It was a victory sealed with a kiss
A joyful celebration reunion
Our strong brave men returned to our shores
Contrary to common belief, the man
Didn’t know her name of number
Just a youth set free from the hold of war
His lips fell on everybody he found
Running up the street exclaiming “we won!”
A soon-to-be-famous photographer
collected and captured this perfect scene
the frame filled to accommodate the love
of our country, of our home, of our win
Ages ago, but still so relevant
A kiss, so unexpected but defined
So sure of the emotion exuded
A navy sailor and a nurse kissing
Times Square bustling, pure jubilation
Chaos rained, girls picked up and spun around
Young soldiers were free to enjoy their youth
Men search for their friends, pretty girls mix in
the nurses that tended to the soldiers
will end up falling for those very same men
Just one simple black and white picture will
represent the red, white and blue triumph
It was a victory of the people
Such simple affection sorely missed
Dealing with a heart run weary by war
Finding consolation in everything
The familiarity of the streets
Friends, family, loved ones, glad to be home
