Old and Beaten

Now son, these old and beaten shoes must go.
Not these shoes mom I've had them for so long.
They fit me perfectly and they feel great,
they cuddle my feet lovingly, careful
Now son, these old and beaten shoes must go.
But mom, they have become a part of me,
my shoes fit me like the last puzzle piece.
They complete me like the last puzzle piece
completes a big, beautiful mosaic.
Now son, these shoes are old and beaten.
No mom, these shoes are irreplaceable.
No shoes will ever feel as good as these,
as good as my hand attached to my arm or my
foot to my leg, they are a part of me.
Now son, these shoes are old and beaten.
Let me get you bright brilliant new shoes son.
Shoes that will be impressive and perfect,
Like a shiny glove covering your hand
attached to your arm attached to yourself.
These shoes will be your most favorite ever!
well, I do like the colors and they seem
sort of comfortable and extra speedy.
I think maybe I could try these new shoes
if i could keep the others just in case.
Yes, these shoes could eventually be great.
"my shoes fit me like the last puzzle piece."
ReplyDeleteI loved this line. It was a simile that really helped you visualize how this little boy felt about his shoes. I really felt like they completed him. They were part of his being. Great job!
