Melt away ye old broken city by Connor Deeks (Ekphrastic Imitation of Blind Alley)

"Blind Alley" painting

-->
Melt away ye old broken city,
Dissolve and fall into the streets below,
Ye nails rust, ye wood rots, ye stone crumbles.
Join the gathering grimy puddles,
The revolting sidewalks littered with trash.
Windows cracked and smeared with disgusting filth,
Buildings covered in muck top to bottom,
Signs with bulbs of old, burnt out years ago.
Fall into ruin and decay quickly,
For I sicken looking down this alley.

Melt away ye old broken city,
Drain into the gutters, down the sewers,
They’ve all moved away, get out of my sight.
Ye lights flicker with the dismay of millions,
Alleys filled with the dead and unwanted,
The sewage spews through every passageway.
No hammer can save thee, no work will do,
The rain will flood and bring down the buildings.
Fall into ruin and decay quickly,
For I sicken looking down this alley.

Melt away ye old broken city,
Thou age is oozing from the steel street holes,
Smoke from cigarettes satiates the walls,
Exhaust suffocates the air, makes me gag,
Ye pastels are the shit from dead stray dogs.
There is no place more hideous or vile,
No hope lives in this abhorrent dwelling,
Ye grey and colorless aura must crash.
Fall into ruin and decay quickly,
For I sicken looking down this alley.
