Passerby

Passerby by Kevin Du

Under a canopy of pink blossoms and green leaves,
I sit lazily as flowers fall around my feet
and observe as people speedily walk by,
with a purpose, a goal, somewhere to be.
Punctual but with a price.
Cyclists zoom past blooming flowers, unappreciative.
And students glued to smartphones pass underneath the sun not acknowledged.

Passerby, you walk near red and brown foundations of this campus,
With faded murky windows and paint chipped sills,
Simple, and untouched for years.
Congregating to giant arches above more red and brown pathways littered with leaves and petals
But never stopping and appreciating this.
