 A Sunday Afternoonon the Island of La Grande Jatte

On this bright summer day, the hot sun shines.

Some trees blocking the radiant sun with
The thick brown branches which hover around
The water front. The immaculate trees
Surround most areas creating a
Dark massive area which is covered
In shadows. All sorts of people gather
Around the area to enjoy the
Refreshing, hot day at the water front.

People coming and going, some bringing

Umbrellas to protect themselves from
The bright sun that shines through some of the trees.
The trumpet that a young man plays fills the
Air, while other festivities begin.
Floating on water which glistens in the
Sun light, some take out their sail boat while
Others practice for the next big rowing
Competition.  People sit and gather
Around each other and enjoy the day.

Dogs wandering and sniffing to see what

They can find in the grass, perhaps a piece
Of meat or maybe even a sandwich.
A charcoaled colored monkey is held by
A lady in a bold black shirt and a
Bright purple skirt which flows off of her slim
Body. The monkey held on by a lime
Green leash which attaches to the owner.
 

On this bright sunny day, people gather

Together as they stand or sit around
And enjoy one another’s company.
