The Day I Dreamed I was Old-By Katie Hedgepeth

It was a nightmare,
a nightmare I say.
Hands looking like an old
Stale prune that was just taken
Out of the oven.
One flap of skin
Folding over the other.

Finding it hard to walk,
Limping like I had no legs,
Struggling each day
That I live.

Panting as I slowly open my eyes,
One eye opening at a time.
Realizing this is all just a dream
And a nightmare in my eyes.
