Astronomy by Connor Kaplan

Astronomy by Connor Kaplan
When I look up at the night sky what do I see?
I see what looks like a few stars.
I see blinking lights.
I see darkness.
But through this observation I imagine.
I imagine the sight of seeing to many stars to count.
I imagine the beautiful colors of the cosmos.
I imagine the planets and there satellites.
I imagine what might be out there.

Poem of the Day: When I Heard the Learn’d Astronomer

Posted: Fri, 31 May 2013 00:00:00 -0600
When I heard the learn’d astronomer,
When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns before me,
When I was shown the charts and diagrams, to add, divide, and measure them,
When I sitting heard the astronomer where he lectured with much applause in the lecture-room,
How soon unaccountable I became tired and sick,
Till rising and gliding out I wander’d off by myself,
In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time,
Look’d up in perfect silence at the stars.
