Spring
Setting
By:
JoJo Ball
To
the left there is a small tree blossoming
with
the most brilliant little pink flowers.
Little
pink flowers that remind me of
the
small pink fingers of my hamster, Ace.
He
would have loved to be out here free.
Able
to do whatever he pleased.
Free
to just feel the wind against his fur
like
the tree feels against its bark, cold yet soothing.
The
tree is brilliant on its own and yet
daunted
by the enormous infrastructure
in
the background. The large, unnatural
building
intrudes on the peaceful scenery
The
way the sun intrudes the darkness of night,
ruining
all hopes of beauty. The tree
is
innocently trying to better
the
world around it yet it is just
no
match for the bland color of the bricks.
The
tree’s soft brown trunk contrasted with the
bright
green leaves and brilliant pink blossoms
is
always at some point, in the shadows.
The
shadows created by the ugly building,
created
for the convenience of man.
Sacrificing
natural beauty.
