As the wind winds through time
You never know what it will see
From Henry the 8th to Benjamin Franklin
The wind never stops its journey
Uplifting a kite above a sand bucket
Blowing by a ruined lighthouse
With a paint can and can opener left behind
At a child’s birthday party with burgers and cake
The little one with crumbs all about,
Happily drinking from a bendable straw
While others run around with silly string
Up north where icicles never leave
Down to the beautiful land of Hawaiian flowers
Across the land of many heroes
To a kitten scampering across the lawn
From the mystical land of Atlantis
With mermaids swimming throughout
To the place you call home
While listening to a cello play soft and brilliantly
Where people talk on the telephone all day long
And the IRS is at the back of everyone’s mind
While Obama is questioned every other second
Time nor place nor situation matter
The wind keeps on going
It does not pause for a break
Nor rest at the end of the day
The wind is omniscient and everlasting
