Mulligan by Kevin Du
The sun rising over the mountains
I drive weaving left and right
Away as far as I can
From golden hair and pain,
And I think back to
Two weeks ago
When I met her,
Where we fell in love
And my world came
Crashing down around me,
I lost my best friend
The man who had
given me a chance
when I needed help,
but the girl needed help,
and our first and last
kiss on the elevator,
filled with blood and
brains pushed through teeth,
was the last time
I’d ever see her,
And the look in her eyes
Before we left will
forever haunt my soul,
but now I drive
far away from her
and a child
I would’ve loved
To call my own
