College Days

College Days

By David Cole

Education is the key to succeed, but
It is not what always what it may seem,
Deceiving like a “full” bag of Doritos.
I myself, can attest to this very claim
After my days at Oregon State University.

Homework is often a pushed aside
While kegs regularly run dry,
With fountains of booze and clouds of haze,
Weeding out those who don't belong.

I’ve watched students stumble into class sick,
Pale faced, somber, and half asleep
Most certainly from the night before,
Holding back heaves, ever so dry,
From exploding onto the floor.

Then comes the ever so dreaded dead week
Where the air is still, and stereos don’t make sound.
Where the last chance to pass that class
Is long gone, along with, your college days.
