Jeannette Beebout Pantoum Poem

Pantoum Early Memory Poem

She climbs into the driver seat of daddy’s
pick up and slides to the middle bench seat.
No ordinary pick up, however,
a tow truck, silver and diamond plated.
Slide to the middle bench seat of the truck,
survived accidents, three teens, now baby.
Metallica, ACDC strummed.
Electric guitars until fingers bled.
Scream into the mic until your ears implode.
Metallica, ACDC strummed.
Mom cut her hair. The bangs were never straight.
Still, she never turns down a ride with dad.
Scream into the mic until your ears implode.
Of the 80’s he was a business man.
Mom cut her hair. The bangs were never straight.
But dad has a long blonde mullet and has
Scream into the mic until your ears implode.
Acquaintances come to their home for hours
leaving with sore skin and fresh ink.
Dad has a long blonde mullet.
Her father has a pocket full of cash
leaving with sore skin and fresh ink
to buy his little girl size 3 diapers
He stutters and sometimes has a lisp.
Driving all day and all night,
to buy his little girl size 3 diapers.
