Unspoken Words by: Nicole Busch (Best version)

Unspoken Words
By: Nicole Busch

Little boy, and Oh, little girl,
No one can know
Your secret fate.

I’m uncertain who tattled first
Is it important?
A boy? A girl?

No doubt that by now, they have forgotten
What their super secret important words
Meant to them, and helped tie that special bond.

Secrets now separate those once friends,
For those two little kids,
now grown adults
Grown to be enemies over time.

The sly whispers and bent phrases, far from
The whole truth, close to a lie,
yet simple.
Words that every small child should come to know.

These two once young adults, now grown older
The secret line,
the secret phrase unknown
A third person comes into the mix.

This third person, gender unknown, masked by
A dark, ominous hood that many fear
But this creature is trustworthy to all.

You find a small piece of paper crumbled
By flames, written by two small children around
Five years old,
now age to brown,
they remember.
