Slipping

Slipping by 7792

She used to care
For what was once was her world
Her future, her family.
But now all has been forgotten.
Memories left to die
Alone in despair
Drowned in indifference.
She passes him and doesn’t even glance.
Acknowledgement is just a dream.

She doesn’t know that
All that exists now is regret,
And slow, painful death
Of a hope fading
With fingers in the notches of his spine
Eliciting emotions never once believed to exist.

What once was bliss is now just a memory
Slowly fading into the deep
And he’s left reaching for it
As it slips through his fingers.
