Impression of "I Dreamed That I Was Old"

Impression of “I Dreamed That I Was Old”
By Philip Pompetti

I dreamed that I was lost: frozen in time
Far from where I was known, when friends
Without the fun was the only crime.
This before the wind whisked me away.

Body, hands, mind, ripe with exhaustion,
Clamber up sandy mounds,
Having thrown to the wind my caution.
I’ve found the resting grounds.

I wept for the joy of sleep,
Deep and truly blessed.
As darkness sought to creep,
Traitor eyelids did the rest.
