Mankind- by Heidi Curtis

Mankind

A man who made fire says "I'm special!"
and the Universe replied to him, "why?"

Men who group together say " We are smart"
The Universe replies, "How do you know?"

Royal families say "We're entitled"
The Universe asks "What entitles YOU?"

Women who dress up say "We're beautiful"
Universe says " Nature is beautiful"

Counties divide saying "This land is ours!"
The Universe laughs at the finite beings

Arrogance will always be man's folly.

A man sees a hungry man and feeds him
The Universe says " You'll always be fed"

A woman teaches impoverished children
The Universe says "You'll have great wisdom"

A young man listens to a crying friend
The Universe says " You'll have compassion"

A boy walks a friend home after it's dark
The Universe says "You will both be safe"

A stranger helps with someone's groceries
The Universe says "You'll always have strength"

We better ourselves by serving others
Putting others first makes our world better
We can start a chain reaction of love
When we serve others tell them " Pass it on!"

Imagine what our world could be like then
on every sidewalk you could find a friend
Kindness can be so much stronger than hate
If we learned to serve and appreciate

Then we could realize our full potential!

A Man Said to the Universe

By Stephen Crane 1871–1900 Stephen Crane
A man said to the universe:
“Sir, I exist!"
“However,” replied the universe,
“The fact has not created in me
“A sense of obligation.”
