Light Bulb by Dan-Vy Nguyen

Light Bulb by Dan-Vy Nguyen

Musicians are a special group of people,
Especially when a light bulb goes out.

It takes five saxophone players.
As one changes the bulb,
Four will contemplate
How Dave Sanborn would have done it.

It takes five trumpet players.
As one changes the bulb,
Four will tell him
How much better they could have done it.

It takes one clarinet player,
But he’ll go through the entire box of bulbs,
Before he finds just the right one.

It takes one trombone player
But he’ll do it too loudly.

It takes one French horn player,
But he’ll spend two hours,
Checking the bulb for alignment and leaks.

It takes one soprano singer,
But she’ll hold the bulb
As the world revolves around her.

It doesn't take any alto singers,
Because they can’t get that high.

It doesn't take any bass singers,
Because they’re so macho,
They prefer to walk in the dark and bang their shins.

It doesn't take any guitar players,
Because they’ll just steal somebody else’s light.

It doesn't take any bass players,
Because the piano player
Can do that with his left hand.

It takes one normal human being,
And he’ll do it just fine.
