The Catch
By: Mylinh Nguyen
The sun
rising over the mountains,
shades of
red, yellow and orange
blending in
the horizon of play
Papa and I pack
our car
upstream we
go.
Swearing
left and right
as we head
to our destination. 7
“Are we
there yet?”
“Are we
there yet?”
“Are we
there yet?”
I keep on
asking.
“No!” Dad
said
“Are we
there yet?”
“Are we
there yet?”
Five minutes
passed and I ask
“Are we
there yet?”
“ Look
outside and you will see”
Trees so
high
Skies so
blue
We begin to
walk
Up hills we
go
To the
streams
We tie the
bait and let it go
Five minutes
passed by
And nothing
in site
Losing hope
until it tugs
Using all my
strength
I fight back
Pulling left
and right and reeling in
I did it
dad!
