Secret of Life
By: Mylinh Nguyen
Two
girls discover the secret of life.
Sunken
beneath the shore of dreams and wishes.
Waiting
to be discovered, wanting to
be
shown. These necessities are the key
to
survival. It is try not to crack,
try not to care. Ignore all and forget
the
fights. Dream about tomorrow but live
for
today. To live a little, you’ve got
to
love a whole lot. For the way to a
fruitful life passes through some struggle. For
the way to a lavishing life passes
through some weariness. Take time to smell the
rose, tuplips,
daffodils and sunflower.
Enjoy the sun on your
skin, the breeze in
your hair. Set good
examples, do good deeds,
for you shall treat
others how you want to
be treated. Remember
the golden rule.
Even if you get nothing
but the cold
shoulder, don’t stop
them from the cruelty.
Just let them walk
along your footsteps.
Face the heat, walk on
fire, laugh when troubled
and keep standing tall
as you can. Always
Remember to count
blessings like children
counting the starts. The
secret of life is
not buried in a treasure
chest under
the sea, but lies
within your golden heart.
It's the little moments that make life big.
It's the little moments that make life big.
For that is the secret
of life. Live, love
and laugh. Cherish
every moment you have.

Poem of the Day: The Secret
BY DENISE LEVERTOV
Two girls discover
the secret of life
in a sudden line of
poetry.
I who don’t know the
secret wrote
the line. They
told me
(through a third person)
they had found it
but not what it was
not even
what line it was. No doubt
by now, more than a week
later, they have forgotten
the secret,
the line, the name of
the poem. I love them
for finding what
I can’t find,
and for loving me
for the line I wrote,
and for forgetting it
so that
a thousand times, till death
finds them, they may
discover it again, in other
lines
in other
happenings. And for
wanting to know it,
for
assuming there is
such a secret, yes,
for that
most of all.
