point of view by Lauren Jernberg

Point of view By: Lauren Jernberg

What is going on here? There are so many
People! I love people! They pet you and
Give you kisses. My owner brought me here
But I cannot find him. Where did he go?
Oh look! They have food. I wonder if they
Will feed me. I walk as stealthily as
I can. Oh no they have spotted me. Wait
My human is here! He will feed me. Look
A squirrel! I am so excited! I weave
In and out of people like a needle
Sewing a shirt. I look for the squirrel. Where
Could it have gone? Oh well maybe my human
Will play with me. I run to him like it
is the first time I have seen him in years.
He sits watching other humans in the
Water. I nudge him with my nose like a
Wrecking ball tearing down a house. He sees
Me and smiles his playing smile and
Throws a ball as far as he can. I must
Retrieve it! It is my duty much like
That of the mothers. Mothers have many
Hats to wear as do I. They take care of
Families, clean, and cook. Where I take care of
My people, retrieve all things, and am man’s
Best friend.  I run faster then the biker
Riding by. I feel like I have my head
Sticking out a window. A few more times
And I’m done and ready to lay down next
To my human. We watch everything pass
And I fall asleep while being petted.
