We Create Loss

All of the new thinking is about loss
scientists that speak of evolution
"we're all losing our natural instincts!"

Common sense is lost among our students
mindlessly flocking in stuffy classrooms
to "expand their minds" and "earn" their degrees
talking more and more about less and less
and we like to call that "evolution"

Science something that is made by people
new thinking that creates ideas of loss

Art is an expression made by people
that fills our world with the idea: surplus
of family, honesty, hard work...

but maybe it's a utopian dream
are we set on this path of destruction?
are we all just a plague to hit this earth
that takes control and leaves only the weak?

does our intelligence handicap us?
I wonder what it is that we have done
or what we are doing, or what we'll do
that makes us feel so unique and special...

if new thinking is loss what's old thinking?
it seems like it was revolution then
but where was the turning point for mankind?
then again hind sight is 20/20

all I know is life's like chutes and ladders
we build and invent to climb up ladders
and a few moves later we slide downward
into a pit of our own destruction

new and old thinking alike create loss...
