A special drive - Kody Cayson

A Special Drive by Kody Cayson

He rode in the car, staring out the glass.
Just an innocent, four-year-old youngster.
His parent’s excited about something.
He is just hoping to be out playing.

Just and innocent, four-year-old youngster.
Heading away from home with boxes stuffed.
The drive is like others he has taken.
Away from what he has known his whole life.

Heading away from home with boxes stuffed.
It seems like they have been driving for hours.
Portland is disappearing behind them.
The only thing he wants is to do is play.

It seems like they have been driving for hours.
The dog is wining loud in the back seat.
The boy and the dog both want to be free.
Only a few more minutes in the drive.

The dog is wining loud in the back seat.
The boy is getting bored sitting in wait.
Almost there his parents tell him “relax”.
That makes him more curious than before.

The boy is getting bored sitting in wait.
You will love it there Kody, just trust us.
That makes him more curious than before.
What is waiting for them at the ending.

You will love it there Kody, just trust us.
Will he like the place they are taking him?
Are they hiding something very important?
They are seconds away from his new home.

Will he like the place they are taking him?
They are seconds away from his new home.

  1. Ok, I really like this poem because it is so relatable and it doesn't necessarily finish, which gives room for your imagination to fill in the blank. You really express your concern, even as a four year old, about what's happening and your poem took me back to when I moved oh so long ago. I also like the subtle optimism! Great job. -Levi Kyllo
