Independence of a four year old By Ellyssa Pearce

The morning sunshine making some things grey
The snoring is loud, making the room shake
The sleeping giant lies like in my story book
The red light changes, what she says is time

The snoring is loud, making the room shake
The bed makes a crack along with a creak
The sleeping giant lies like in my story book
The steps I take wakes the sleeping giant

The bed makes a crack along with a creak
The beat of my chest quick and boisterous
The steps I take wakes the sleeping giant
The independence of a four year old

The beat of my chest quick and boisterous
The sleeping giant’s snores turns to voice
The independence of a four year old
The girl is scared of the trivial

The sleeping giant’s snores turns to voice
The reassurance from the voice
The girl is scare of the trivial
The arms wrap around her to shield

The reassurance from the voice
The dreams were bad this night
The arms wrap around her to shield
The monsters cannot get her now

The dreams were bad this night
The voice turns back into snores
The monsters cannot get her now
The tears of a four year old becomes lighter

The voice turns back into snores
The snores from a sleeping giant
The tears of a four year old becomes lighter
Independence stays back just a bit longer
