First Ride By Whitney Osburn

First Ride
By Whitney Osburn

The young girls jumps up and down,
While everyone else stands around.
A little pink helmet, strapped to her chin,
She is very ready to begin.

While everyone else stands around,
The young girl picked up her bike,
She is very ready to begin,
She starts pedaling in the wind.

The young girl picked up her bike,
Excited it’s the first time not on a trike.
She starts pedaling in the wind,
Behind her is a push to start.

Excited it’s the first time not on a trike,
There are only two wheels on this bike.
Behind her is a push to start,
Her feet pedal faster than a shopping cart.

There are only two wheels on this bike.
A voice yelled “no more training wheels”!
Her feet pedaled faster than a shopping cart,
The biggest smile filled her face.

A voice yelled “no more training wheels”!
Her pedaling feet sped up quick.
The biggest smile filled her face,
But then her face turned upside down.

Her pedaling feet sped up quick,
Only to slow down very quick.
But then her face turned upside down,
Tears filled her eyes while she lay on the ground.

Only to slow down very quick.
The young girl jumps up and down.
Tears filled her eyes while she lay on the ground.
A little pink helmet strapped to her chin.

  1. I like imagery and how it all flows together with a little rhyming and repeating!
